Problem

A paste fill plant required a reliable method to accurately dose binder material from a day bin into the process. Maintaining the correct binder-to-paste ratio was critical to ensure consistent product quality and stable plant performance. The system also needed to measure material flow continuously and integrate with the customer’s PLC so feed rates could automatically adjust to process demand.

Solution

A pivoted weigh screw dosing system was developed using a rotary valve and screw conveyors supplied by us to transfer material from the day bin. The pivoted weigh screw continuously measures throughput, enabling precise control of binder feed. The electrical and control system, including PLC integration, was developed by Automation and Control, which monitors the screw speed and adjusts the rotary valve to maintain the required dosing rate.

Outcome

The completed system delivers precise, automated binder dosing with continuous monitoring and control of material flow. Accurate throughput measurement combined with responsive control ensures consistent process performance while maintaining the required binder ratio. By integrating mechanical handling with advanced control systems from Automation and Control, the solution provides reliable operation and seamless integration with the plant’s automation system.
